For this season on Pirita beach sanitary containers will have a weatherproof cover around them with a photo of a pine forest. We ask the city and its residents to think about the fact that the proposed concept is:
- Dangerous for Pirita habitat
Photo wallpapers imitate the forest, which creates a danger for birds that can crash into the wall and most likely die.
- Not sustainable
We understand that having sanitary containers on the beach is an affordable solution, but we want our city council to come up with something more sustainable. The Pirita beach is a popular location all year long for the residents of Tallinn and its tourists. The road that goes along the beach is a few kilometers long. No doubt the toilets will not stand idle during out-of-season times, too.
- Ugly
The desire to integrate toilets into nature must be addressed in more modern ways and it should be made with sustainable materials.
We ask the city council to provide its residents and all the visitors with public toilets that are accessible all year long, made with sustainable materials, and safe for the rich and unique habitat of Pirita Beach.
At the moment our public toilets look like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/303738826801954/permalink/1335611940281299/
But we want them to be looking like: https://www10.aeccafe.com/blogs/arch-showcase/2013/01/13/public-toilets-in-lyon-france/
Ugly
This is indeed very ugly. Better no cover at all on those toilets. And yes, we need there permanent sustainable toilets.
Unmodern and non ecological decision
White toilets were fine, there is no need to decorate them like this “plastic and temporary” way

👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Kui me tahame elada nagu Skandinaavias, miks tehakse nagu Venemaal? Just to set personal taste aside: this is non-ecological decision, which only spends city’s money. Colors will become less intense in a year, plus also there’s no way to wash off graffiti from this design.
Ebapraktiline lahendus
See lahendus pole hea, sest nii tualetid on päris metsa peidetud. Nad ei pea küll välja paistma, kuid nad peavad ikka nähtavad olema. Mõelgem ka inimestele, kellel nägemus pole perfektne, sh vanuritele. Kuidas nad peavad selliseid objekte leidma? Kusjuures, suvel päikeselise ilmaga kannavad paljud inimesed päikeseprille, mis samuti ei soosi peidetud objektide selget nägemist… Tegu on disaini veoga.
Algatusel puudub tõlge
Soovime juhtida algataja tähelepanu sellele, et hetkel puudub algatusel tõlge (eesti keeles) ning sellisel kujul ei saa seda vastavalt keeleseadusele edasi riigiasutusse saata. Tõlke saate Te algatajana lisada “Muuda algatuse teksti” alt. Kuigi algatus võib olla inglise keeles kuni allkirjade kogumise lõpuni, soovitame siiski omalt poolt tõlke lisada nii kiiresti kui võimalik, et ka mitte inglise keelt oskavad inimesed algatusest aru saaksid.
